Through the generous financial
support of the deLaski Family Foundation and in partnership with
George Mason University, PIQE opened the doors of this office on
February 2, 2008. Located in Fairfax, Virginia, we are here to serve
the entire Washington DC Metro area. This consists of Washington DC,
Prince George's County in Maryland, and several counties and cities in
Northern Virginia: Fairfax County, Arlington Country, Prince William
County, Alexandria City, Falls Church City, Manassas Park, and
Manassas City.
During the spring and summer of 2008 the Nine-Week Parent Involvement
Education Program was offered in both English and Spanish to parents
of high school students enrolled in the Early Identification Program
at George Mason University. A total of 123 parents graduated from
those first classes. In the following months, several organizations
and school districts worked with PIQE to offer the program in four
languages: Spanish, English, Arabic, and Vietnamese. As of the summer
of 2009, 570 parents have graduated from the nine-week program.
