Key
Accomplishments:

PIQE
celebrated its 17th anniversary on October 22, 2004.
- PIQE
has graduated more than 335,000 parents from the basic
nine-week program.
-
Over 50,000 parents have participated in the follow-up
component.
- PIQE
programs have impacted over 1 million children.
- PIQE
expanded its program in 1991 and currently has ten offices
serving 16 counties throughout California.
- PIQE
has worked in more than 1,300 schools in 145 different
school districts in California.
- In
2001, PIQE collaborated with the Stanford Research Institute
(SRI) to develop and implement a six-hour teacher workshop
on parent involvement (200 teachers have participated
in these workshops).
- Since
1990, in partnership with World Vision: PIQE has raised
over $30,000,000 from individuals, corporations, foundations
and schools.

In partnership with individuals, corporations, foundations,
and schools, PIQE has raised over $30 million dollars.
- In
partnership with local NCLR affiliates, PIQE’s program
is being incubated in Dallas Texas and Phoenix Arizona.

PIQE has received an EXCELLENT RATING as a State GEAR-UP
partner, PIQE has served 200 middle schools in California
over the past four years.

In 2002-03, funded by the Eisenhower Foundation, PIQE
designed and implemented a teacher Master’s level
(3-unit) semester course on “Parent Involvement.”
It has been piloted in ten schools in San Diego County
and 92 teachers have completed the course. The teacher
evaluations have been EXCELLENT!

In 2003, PIQE designed and implemented a parent curriculum
in Santa Clara County for families with children whose
ages are between 0-5.
- In
2002-03, PIQE accepted the challenge by Chancellor Tony
Alvarado, SDUSD to host a year long parent invovlement
program at San Diego High School. PIQE conducted focus
groups with the leadership, teachers/counsleors, staff,
parents and students. An advisory committee was formed
representing all the stakeholders. During the school year,
PIQE held three (9 week) series of parent involvement
classes, two 6 hour teacher workshops on Saturdays and
numerous empowerment sessions with students. PIQE contracted
with a African-American (AA) parent advocate who focused
on working with AA students and parents. PIQE collaborated
with the school leadership to reach out to parents to
increase their participation at school events.

expand to 23 offices in California in order to reach 90%
of all families with children in the schools.

To offer the teacher workshop on parent
involvement throughout the State of California.

To expand its work throughout the state
with families who have children between the ages of 0-5.

To expand its Parent Involvement Program
and the teacher workshops nationwide.
