FACILITATORS

Description:

The facilitator is responsible for teaching the Parent Engagement in Education Program at local pre-k, elementary, middle and high schools. The program begins with a planning session during which the mission of the program and parent concerns are discussed. The next six weeks are dedicated to the six core classes which address issues that pertain to each age group. The facilitator will deliver these classes using lesson plans and materials already developed by PIQE staff. The program culminates in weeks eight and nine with events that bring together parents and school administrators to have a dialogue and then celebrate graduation.

Qualifications:

Strong belief in the mission of PIQE
Bachelor’s degree
Child Development Certificate or 36 ECE units (for Pre-K facilitators only)
Experience leading or teaching groups of adults
General knowledge of the US schools system
Graduate of the PIQE Parent Engagement Program (preferred but not required)

Duties:

Attend a six-hour training program prior to facilitating the course.
Facilitate the Parent Engagement Program once a week for an hour and a half each session.
Attend a one-hour weekly facilitator meeting at the local PIQE office.
Maintain phone contact with each of the parents in your class once a week during the duration of the program.

Compensation:
A stipend of up to $600 for the nine weeks.
