Parent Ambassador Retreat Jun 13-14 2025
On June 13–14, 2025, PIQE Parent Ambassadors from across California came together for a two-day retreat filled with learning, connection, and inspiration. Through interactive workshops, leadership training, and powerful conversations, Ambassadors deepened their skills to advocate for their children, schools, and communities. The retreat was a celebration of parent leadership and a reminder of the incredible impact families can have when they lead with knowledge and purpose.
Digital Equity Advocacy Day 2025
On April 29–30, PIQE Parent Ambassadors joined statewide partners in Sacramento for Digital Equity Advocacy Day. Parents shared their experiences with the digital divide and advocated for policies to ensure all families have affordable, reliable internet and the skills to thrive in a connected world. Their voices underscored the urgent need to close the gap and create equal opportunities for every student.
Voices of Kern County: Advocating for Education
On April 23, our Bakersfield office hosted a powerful roundtable with parents, students, and borrowers from across Kern County to discuss the real impact of proposed federal education budget cuts. Co-hosted by PIQE, the Student Borrower Protection Center, and the UC Student Association, the conversation highlighted how cuts to Pell Grants and affordable loans would harm working families and entire communities. We’re especially proud of our Parent Ambassador, Virginia Ramirez, who shared her story and spoke on ABC23 News to elevate this urgent issue.
Advocating for Equity: Cal Grant Reform Trip 2024
On April 21, 2024, ten PIQE Parent Ambassadors traveled to Sacramento to advocate for Cal Grant Reform alongside TICAS and uAspire. They met with leaders like Senator Anna Caballero and Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria to champion greater access and equity in higher education.
