Fidel Ramirez

Fidel Ramirez was born in the small town of Huisquilico, Jalisco, Guadalajara, Mexico. With a lot of struggles and hardships Fidel, alongside his siblings immigrated to California in 1972. His parent’s vision was to provide their 9 kids with the opportunity to ensure a bright future in the USA.

Fidel Ramirez comes from a proud family of educators. He attended kindergarten at the local public school in the San Fernando Valley and soon after found himself struggling in school. He was bullied outside of the classroom because he spoke a different language. He found strength in his family and in his faith and was able to persevere. He attended public middle and high schools and soon discovered that he had the ability to connect with diverse populations. He found himself in student leadership roles. Essentially, as a first-generation scholar, he attended CSU, Northridge where he completed his B.A. and M.A.

His calling is to give to his community and has been able to cultivate a social justice heart through the lens of education. For over 25 years, he has served as university director, middle and high school principal and currently serves as CEO for Vaughn Next Century Learning Center, a public California Distinguished, WASC Accredited, Blue Ribbon charter school in Pacoima California. He has been happily married for 30 years and is the proud father of three lovely kids.
