Nicolas Elder | Director of IT
Nicolas Elder is an IT leader with experience supporting nonprofit organizations through secure, and people-centered technology solutions. He currently serves as Director of IT at the Parent Institute for Quality Education, where he oversees technology systems, staff, and digital operations across all service regions.
With a background in operations, training, and team leadership, Nicolas focuses on building practical solutions that improve workflows and help PIQE better serve their communities. He founded the organization’s first dedicated IT department, overseeing everything from cybersecurity protections to the digital tools that support team members across California. His approach is defined by a belief that technology should be a bridge, not a barrier; he has designed custom systems to streamline internal workflows and led large-scale projects that keep the organization running smoothly in an increasingly digital world.
Bilingual in English and Spanish, he is experienced working with diverse teams and mission-driven organizations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. This background in critical thinking, combined with his bilingual/bi-cultural fluency in English and Spanish, guides him to solve complex problems with a focus on people and equity. Whether he is training new staff or managing large-scale project risks, Nicolas is dedicated to using his technical expertise to support social good and community empowerment.
